The first post-30 post

Well, it looks like I am on more of a two-week schedule on doing these posts. I'll try to stick to that and see how it goes. As the title eluded to, my b-day this year was the ol' 3-0... Renee was able to pull a fast one on me and organize a surprise party here at the house under the guise of a small family lunch. It was great to see all those who were able to make it. We were able to enjoy some food, drinks and even some games(Rock Band is addicting...:)

The next weekend we took off for the cruise that we had planned. It was a short 4-night cruise, going from Ft. Lauderdale to Cozumel, Mexico and back. It was a good break from the daily routine. We left the kids here at home as mom and dad graciously offered to watch them for the weekend. Apparently, Carson took a liking to dad as he was the only one that was able to get him down to sleep, although since we've came back Carson keep going after the salt and toothpicks...j/k..;)


Marisa still has not gotten her first soccer game in yet. The weather has just not cooperated. The latest word is they are going to shoot for 4/26, we'll see what happens. Speaking of first's Carson got his first tooth in the week we came back. He's not walking yet, but I imagine it won't be too much longer.

Another first that occured was that Carson got to go to his first Cardinals Opening Day...errr, should I say half-day since the actual first game got rained out in the fourth inning.
Anyway, I guess that is all for now. I will try to get some pics posted for this entry as soon as I can. Until next time...

On the move...

First, let me start with saying I know, I'm sorry, I haven't make good on my plan to post a new entry each week. Things got a bit busy this past month. During that time I traveled down to Birmhingham, AL for work. I was able to zip up to Jasper and visit uncle Frank and the whole gang. Which was really enjoyable. Of course my visit would not have been complete if Frank didn't get to go show off his shop and latest ride.

Since my last post, Carson is on the move. He is crawling all over the place and is pulling up and walking around the furniture. And yes, he still has the tounge working...

Marisa is still doing gymnastics once a week and she was going to get to start playing some soccer, but the first game got cancelled due to the fields being too wet. Also she got to paint her nails and toenails for the first time.

Speaking of it being wet, I don't know if we are ever goning to see dry land around here again. It seems we have had either rain or snow for the past month. Well, that's all for now, guess it's a short one this time. What's the saying though? Better something than nothing...:) Until next time...

Let it snow!!

Well, the snow I eluded to in the first post ended up dumping about 7-8 inches by the next day. We were able to get out and enjoy it the following day, as the weather was much nicer and the snow was packing better. Carson even got out and had his first snow experience.

For those that haven't been to our house, we have quite the hill in our front yard, which makes for some excellent sledding. The only bad part is the walk back up!(we usually resort to someone driving the truck up and down...I know, I know, sounds lazy, but if you've seen the hill you understand). Marisa was able to sled on her own this year. Her and cousin Andrew had a blast racing down the hill.

Of course, the traditional snow ball fight ensued with uncle Craig taking his fair share of hits, but not without doing damage to the evil snow empire's fortress:) Alas, the snow didn't last, it was gone it about 2 days, taking with it the evidence of the longest sled run(Andrew) and the best snowman made this year...IMO.

Welcome to our family blog

Hello everyone. I wanted to give this a try as a way to keep in touch with those we don't get a chance to see very often. I'll try to post something on a weekly basis. That's my goal right now at least(we'll see how it goes). Please feel free to post any comments you would like. So, as I watch the snow falling on this last day of January, I begin the Nix family blog...


Well, here we go, the main reason for doing this. Letting all of you know what is going with myself, Renee, Marisa and Carson. So I guess I'll start by doing a quick status on everybody:

• I am currently employed at at&t,(formerly SBC, which was formerly Southwestern Bell, which was formerly AT&T...hope you got that, there may be a test later...;) I have been there since I graduated in 2000. I work in a group in the IT part of the company where our responsibility is to monitor the backups for all the systems in the company. Outside of work, I keep busy taking care of the kids and working on our house that we are remodeling.


• Renee helps run a branch office here in O Fallon for the insurance agency her family owns. She also has been doing that since graduating in 2001. When she is not at work, she stays busy with the kids, keeps me busy with the 'honey-do's' and gets to play a little volleyball at our church once a week.


• Marisa turned 3 in November. She goes to preschool twice a week and she does gymnastics once a week. She really likes doing forward rolls and swinging on the bars. Other than that, she keeps us on our toes and makes us laugh everyday.


• Carson will be 7 mo. old tommorow. Boy how the time flies! He is sitting up on his own and any day now will be taking off crawling. Lately the Nix side has been coming out as he will stick his tounge out whenever he is doing things. Anyone who has seen my dad working will know what I am talking about(although he hasn't started with the toothpicks yet...I expect that will come once he gets teeth.)
